Warsash Spring Series

Congratulations to Pieter Heyn and crew on board ‘F5 Synthesis’ (GBR3047) who put in a dominant performance at the Brooks MacDonald Warsash Spring Series to win the SB20 class, which had its own start in White Group.

The ‘F5 Synthesis’ team scored 10 wins over the 13 Spring Series races held, also counting a second, and discarding a second and a fourth to win by an incredible 54 points from George Barker’s ‘Captain Pugwash’ (GBR3213). Aron Wellband’s ‘Flutter’ (GBR3548) came third, while Richard Powell and GBR3728 joined the series mid-way through and ended on a win to finish fourth. The remaining two race wins went to Steve Mclean’s ‘Sponge Bob’ (GBR3014), who finished fifth.

Things were closer in the Spring Championships, with 14 races held over both Saturday and Sunday on the final two weekend and 25 boats competing. ‘F5 Synthesis’ again took the win, with a five-point margin over Richard Powell, who had a highly consistent all top-five series. ‘Sponge Bob’ took third.

The next Solent SB20 racing is the Royal Southern YC’s May regatta, racing out of Hamble on May 9-10.
