Russian dominance at Hyeres


The Hyères one-design keelboat championship, the Championnat de France Promotion des Monotypes Habitables was held by COYCH from 7-10th November. Seven classes took part, with the 19-boat SB20 fleet the largest of the regatta, attracting entries from Russia, Germany, and Monaco, as well as across France.

The winners were the dominant Melston Team from Russia of Alexey Murashkin, Kirill Frolov and Igor Ignatenko, who won three of the four races. The Black Magic Sailing Team from Antibes, with Sofian Bouvet, Philippe Mourniac and Gilles Favennec took the remaining race win and second overall, with third going to another visiting Russian entry, the BCG Sailing Team of Vadim Pushev, Timur Sabirzianov and Dmitry Sudakov.
