Where the water gets in……

Sponging out water at the end of a day’s racing is one job we all try and avoid… but where can it get in? Pressure testing your hull is always a good way to find out and here are the results of one that we did last year……

As you can see (ignore the compressor noise…) inspection hatches, the main hatch, lifting bolts and keel crane hole are the main culprits, but don’t forget the old electronics holes – as well as the tack and pole-out blocks underneath the mast base cowling.

A few hours’ work with some silicone, a bit of epoxy and some replacement of seals will soon have you dry. We think this is essential maintenance as any water left in the boat over time will not do the internal bulkheads any good whatsoever.
